Kairos

The ocean has been a constant presence throughout my life, a symbol of both the unknown and the familiar. Through my paintings, I explore the duality of life, attempting to capture the expansiveness of the ocean and sky. These natural elements have always been influential to me, shaped by my Greek heritage and spending my childhood summers along the mediterranean sea. I often witnessed the vast horizon where the water meets the sky, a landscape that felt like a reflection of life's constant ebb and flow—endless yet intimate, infinite yet personal.

I use soft gradients and smooth transitions between sky and water in my landscapes to convey this fluid relationship, where the boundaries blur and dualities coexist. In a philosophical context, Kairos involves a sense of timing or appropriateness that cannot be quantified or predicted by regular measures of time. It’s about knowing when to act in accordance with the situation, to take advantage of an opportunity, or to make a meaningful choice. Through these pieces, I invite viewers to reflect on their own sense of existence and the choices we make within this vast world around us.
